“NJOONI TUNYUE MAJI YA UZIMA UDA….HAPA NI RAHA TUPU…Waiguru tells Mt Kenya youthful leaders who are still in Uhuru’s camp

She further advised the youths to choose wisely when voting for political candidates stating that majority of politicians make empty promises before the polls, only to disappear immediately after getting into office.

According to the Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru, youths being the forefront of UDA’s bottom-up economic models  they should therefore back up the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of next year’s general elections.

“I believe the party’s blueprint has the solution to bridge the widening gap between the rich and the poor and that is why I am asking all of us to get on-board and walk together towards prosperity for all,” the governor said in a statement after meeting several youth groups at her official residence in Kagio.
Waiguru was speaking on Friday at a meeting with youth drawn from Mwea, Ndia,
Kirinyaga Central and Gichugu constituencies.

Speaking at meeting with youths from different constituencies in Kirinyaga, Waiguru termed the government’s ‘trickle down’ model,  employed since independence as a failure urging the youths to advocate for change with the help of the bottom-up model which has since then been a success.

“The youths will be among those who will benefit the most from the bottom-up economic model. We have clearly demonstrated it here in Kirinyaga with our Wezesha programme where we have empowered ordinary Kenyans to undertake life changing projects like poultry keeping, pig rearing, fish, tomato and avocado farming so that they can earn money,” she said.

She further advised the youths to choose wisely when voting for political candidates stating that majority of politicians make empty promises before the polls, only to disappear immediately after getting into office.

“I am asking you to interrogate each of those seeking to be elected as governor or any other seat, ask them to show you what they have done for the people and measure it against the work we have done,” Waiguru said.
