At least 105,000 young people have been recruited as grassroots mobilizers to garner support for the presidential candidate of the Azimio-One Kenya coalition Raila Odinga.
The youth, who hail from all 47 counties, will conduct bottom-up campaigns for the candidate.
Yesterday, the leader of Azimio’s presidential national youth campaign secretariat Philip Pande said he had recruited a lively team. “The team is expected to scour villages and urban centers to ensure that the number of voters among their peers in the August 9 election is high,” he said.
Pande said young people in the past have not used their power to bring about progressive change and fight for policies that will improve their lives.
“We failed to explore our population and strength to our advantage and to live up to the billing. This is what we have to work hard to achieve ”.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu, the leader of the National Presidential Youth Campaign Secretariat said they were still recruiting more volunteers, saying they wanted to ensure that many suitable young voters took part in the August 9 elections.
