Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, has been dealt with a huge blow after Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji, said that the Ksh 588 million graft case against Waititu will proceed to full trial.
Haji stated that despite the court terminating charges against five others who were alleged to be involved in the scandal, Waititu’s case will go on.
This was after Justice Esther Maina, stopped the prosecution of the five members where she termed it as unconstitutional and abuse of the legal process. Their charges were terminated following the High Court’s decision.
Haji, on Monday, informed Thomas Nzyuki that about six to eight witnesses are remaining before the case is closed.
“Discussion with DPP is that following the disputes relating to the 10 accused persons, we will proceed with the hearing against Waititu and the rest,” read a statement.
